About
Hello!
I’m Laura Mikulski, and I’ve proudly served as a member of Ferndale’s City Council since 2019, where I currently hold the role of Mayor Pro Tem. I’ve lived in Ferndale for nearly two decades, raising my family here while investing my time and energy into making our city stronger, more inclusive, and more financially resilient.

Professionally, I’ve built my career in business management, communications, marketing, and finance. That background has shaped the way I approach local government: I dig deep into budgets, I ask tough questions, and I focus on accountability and transparency. I believe residents deserve clear, honest communication from City Hall, and I’ve worked hard to provide that by keeping people informed about council actions, explaining how decisions impact them, and never shying away from difficult conversations.
Outside of City Hall, many people know me as one of the founders of the Ferndale Rat Patrol, a grassroots effort to tackle rodent issues and improve sanitation across our neighborhoods and downtown. That same spirit of problem-solving and collaboration carries into my work as a councilmember, whether it’s advocating for the reopening of the Kulick Community Center, protecting our tree canopy, or ensuring residents’ tax dollars are used responsibly.

I’m running for re-election because I believe Ferndale’s best days are ahead of us—but only if we approach challenges with both fiscal responsibility and community care. I bring experience, persistence, and a willingness to listen. Most importantly, I bring the perspective of a long-term resident who wants to see Ferndale thrive not just today, but for generations to come.
